DesignUK Day on 29 November will offer informative seminars conducted by UK design specialists. Also featured within the IDExpo will be Love & Money: British Design Now, an exhibition of 25 top UK design stories demonstrating the powerful combination of creativity and business sense, reflecting the best of UK talent in fashion, graphics, furniture and product design, architecture and engineering.

There will also be a lighting installation - Super Small Stick - by influential Hong Kong based British designer Michael Young, whose works have been acquired by the Pompidou Centre and Louvre Museum in Paris, Design Museum London.

As well as the UK design industry in general, she will talk about "Love and Money – The Best of British Design Now", a new exhibition focusing on the interplay between commerce and creativity in design. 11.00-11.30am Mr. Patrick Bruce – Director, The Oval Partnership Limited (Hong Kong) Public Consulatation in Mainland Architecture and Urban Development – an Architectural Designer’s Approach Rapid urban development is having a great impact on individuals and communities. Through its work in China, The Oval Partnership has devised ways to engage the public in the design and outcomes of projects. It specialises in a sustainable lifestyle approach to design across several disciplines, including intelligent and green buildings, transportation architecture and retail. 11.30am-12.00pm Prof. Irene McAra-McWilliam – Head of the School of Design, The Glasgow School of Art Creative Communities: design, technology and social innovation Prof McAra-McWilliam will describe how design can facilitate social innovation and the role of the designer in business innovation, technological research and public service policy-making. The UK's Design Week magazine voted her one of fifty top design leaders and she is an expert in design philosophy, creativity and social innovation. 12.00noon-12.30pm Mr. Mike Matfin - Director of Enterprise, University of the Arts London – UK Creative Capital – World City Mike will speak about this challenging project, funded by the UK Government and the University, to provide specialist business, technical, and creative expertise to support the UK creative industries' expansion into world markets. The University is Europe's largest specialising in art, with over 150 years of experience and 24,000 students from over 100 countries worldwide. 2.30-3.00pm Mr. Stephen Frazer – Director, Frazer Designers (London) Developing Brand Distinction through Product Design Great design is about much more than just styling! Stephen will share his experience of how user insights and creative design can build and sustain brand reputation and win market share. Frazer Designers have an international reputation for helping clients bring new technologies to market by mixing technical understanding with innovative design. 3.00-3.30pm Mr. Jeff Conrad – Head of Design, Red Bee Media (London) Every Second Counts Jeff will discuss how to create and build an effective television brand. Red Bee Media was formerly BBC Broadcast and is now an independent commercial creative agency with a worldwide reputation in broadcast and interactive design. Recent projects include the rebranding of Discovery Networks Europe and creating the new channel identity for the UK’s prestigious BBC One. 3.30-4.00pm Rob Holdway - Director, Giraffe Innovation Ltd – Brighton, UK Transform your business through Eco-Innovation & Design Excellence Giraffe Innovation is a management consultancy that advises small and large companies and the UK Government on innovation management, sustainable design and environmental legislation.
